Human Resources - Employee Crisis, Hard to Find Links
Where do you go when you have an employee in crisis? If you are like me, you scramble and fumble looking for a place to take them. Call your local County Mental Health organization, you can find them on the internet. They can direct you to the local emergency screening unit! You'll be happy you did.
Here are a few organizations and links that may assist you in helping others and for other Human Resource related topics:
- National Domestic Violence Hotline (800-799-7233): Offers crisis intervention and refers people to adult protective-services organizations across the county.

- Domestic Abuse Helpline for Men (888-743-5754): Free service based in Harmony, Maine. They will listen and refer people to help that is sympathetic to male victims.

- National Center on Elder Abuse (NCEA) (855-500-3537). Has acess to a vast store of imformation on elder abuse.

- The Compassionate Friends (877-969-0010): Grief Support After the Death of a Child. This non-profit organization was extremely helpful when an employee lost her young son very unexpectedly. I did not know where to turn for assistance in helping her or other employees. They provide a list of local chapters and a variety of resources.

- National Hopeline Network (800-784-2433): If you are in crisis call NOW. The suicide hotline will connect you with a local crisis center.
